Church Picnic

Come to the church picnic and auction on August 18.

Location: Lower Allen Park, 4075 Lisburn Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055

Date/Time: August 18, 2012 @ 5:15 pm  –  through evening hours. (You may wish to arrive as early as 4:00 pm)

Things to bring: 2 covered dishes (cold & hot), lawn chairs, games if you wish.

Provided: Water, plates and eating utensils.

THE AUCTION IS OVER AND WE RAISED JUST OVER $1600 FOR THE VOLUNTARY SERVICES FUND.

These quilts and many other items, will be auctioned to support Erin Hershey’s ministry.

Erin is going to Catel, in the west African country of Guinea-Bissau under the sponsorship of Eastern Mennonite Missions in the YES (Youth Evangelism Service) program. She will be serving from September 9, 2012 to July 26, 2013. The purpose of the service is to build friendships with the people in Catel, serve with a youth program and serve God in whatever ways He directs her path.

Here is a message from Erin:
Hello all!

Last week I received word regarding where I am placed next year in the YES program! I will be serving in Catel, Guinea-Bissau! There are two women (including me) and three guys on my team. Tessa (the other female) and I will be staying in Catel while the men will do their outreach in a village twenty-five miles away. However, we will all go through training sessions together in Catel throughout the year. In Catel, we will work with a youth program set up there, build friendships and also possibly serve in a clinic and/or preschool.
News of my placement has brought excitement with how things are coming together for next year but I’m also nervous with not knowing what to expect.
Therefore, your prayers for this time in trusting God before I leave would be very much appreciated. Thank you all for your prayers and continued support over the next year!
