Lao Fellowship

The Lao Fellowship at Slate Hill has a long history when it comes to God's grace. It all began in the 1970s when Slate Hill Mennonite Church sponsored the first family of refugees from Laos. From that point on, many other families followed. Those earlier families laid a foundation for the next generation of believers to continue to worship at Slate Hill.

Many of those original families have now moved away to different states or out of the Harrisburg area. However, despite the small population of Laotian families living in central Pennsylvania, God's grace continues to thrive. Through the endeavor of the remaining church members, the Lao Fellowship remains strong and continues to create connections in the community. We have members from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and others that are regular attenders.

And, for more than a decade, the annual Southeast Asian Celebration, which takes place on the first Sunday of December, has brought together many other churches and denominations. Our brothers and sisters from the Cambodian church, the Indonesian church, and many guests from different denominations and cultures have been attending annually.

The Lao Fellowship mission is to reach out not only to Laotian families but to anyone who wants to experience God's grace and blessing. We would like to invite those that seek to know God to join our regular service each Sunday from 11AM to 12PM in the lower level of Slate Hill Mennonite Church. Currently, we do not have a full-time Lao pastor or specific leaders, but we have willing participants that love to share God's story with everyone in Lao/Thai and English.

We hope to see you soon so God's love, through our Savior Jesus Christ, can be displayed to anyone who believes in Him. For more information on the Lao Fellowship contact us at (717) 737-8150
